Q and A
Yes, all of Coracao’s products are 100% vegan and made in a dedicated vegan facility. That means no dairy and no other animal products, ever!
None of our products contain soy, dairy, gluten, or peanuts. We do use some other tree nuts though, like cashews, coconut, and almonds. If you have a tree nut allergy, check the ingredients on the product page, or give us a call and we can guide you to the right chocolate for your diet.
Interesting fact: if you look at the grams of cacao in a Coracao Chocolate bar vs. the grams of cacao in a conventional milk chocolate bar, you will be getting more cacao per dollar with Coracao. And not just any cacao either; some of the world's most high quality, sustainably-grown heirloom cacao. When it comes to ingredients, we don’t compromise. That means no processed, unpronounceable ingredients or preservatives. If Organic, pure ingredients and ethically-sourced cacao are important to you, then we think Coracao is a bargain!
All of the cacao farms we work with are certified Fair Trade. Our Cacoco drinking chocolate is certified, and we are working toward Fair Trade certification for our Coracao chocolate bars in 2022.
Our chocolate is free of cane-sugar and refined white sugar. We instead use coconut sugar. This lower glycemic, minimally processed alternative comes from the nectar of the coconut palm blossoms. It is delicious and one of the most sustainable sweeteners this beautiful planet has to offer. For the purists, we do sell our unsweetened 99% Chocolate Bar and 100% Drinking Chocolate.
